Beacons of Georgetown defeated Tabatinga of Region #9 to qualify for the knockout segment when the Guyana Football Federation (GFF) Elite League Playoff continued last night at the Eve Leary ground.
Beacons downed Tabatinga 5-3. Anthony Abrams recorded a helmet-trick in the second, 41st, 50th, and 53rd minutes, while Keon Douglas supported with a 70th-minute strike.
For the loser, Deivison DaSilva amassed a brace in the third and 75th minutes, while Victor Peres scored in the 85th minute. In the other match, Winners Connection defeated Dominators via walkover.
Over at the No. 5 ground in West Coast Berbice, the encounter between hosts Monedderlust and Buxton Stars was abandoned due to a power failure at the venue. At the time of the abandonment, the home side led 2-0. The match is scheduled to resume today.
