Thirty-five-year-old Anwar Sukhanand of Johanna Cecilia, Region Two is currently hospitalized at Suddie Public Hospital with a bullet in his left leg after he was shot during an armed robbery on Sunday night. Sukhanand went to the Good Life Supermarket 13 at Johanna Cecilia with his wife to purchase groceries. The incident occurred around 21:40 hours.
Speaking from his hospital bed, Sukhanand said that he and his wife Ayesha Sukhanand were outside when four masked men rushed to them. The men were barefeet and were armed with guns. He said that at first he heard a loud explosive going off but thought it was firecrackers.
“I really thought was firecrackers however I heard a second one went off then I felt the pain in left leg and blood I heard my wife screaming” the injured man related.
Ayesha Sukhanand said that she started to panic when she saw the gun. She said that while one of the men was outside the others were inside terrorizing other customers.
She said that she immediately stopped a car and rushed her husband to the Suddie Public Hospital. Her husband was admitted however the bullet remains in his left leg.
