Platinum Side, LA Ballers, and YMCA secured respective semi-final berths following quarterfinal victories when the ‘One Guyana’ King and Queen Beach Football Championship continued on Saturday evening at the PPP Office compound in Mackenzie, Linden.
Platinum Side downed the High Flyers 2-0 on penalty kicks after regulation time ended at 2-2. Keron Solomon and Isaiah Adams were on target from a distance to secure the win. Prior to the aforesaid conclusion, Adams recorded a double in the 24th and 38th minutes. On target for the loser were Malachi Todd and Devonte Tappin in the fifth and 34th minutes, respectively.
YMCA dismissed the Gorillas by a 2-0 score. The combination of Shaka Hall and Jamal Bentick found the back of the net in the second and fifth minutes, respectively.
Meanwhile, the LA Ballers overcame the Presidential 1-0. Omar Brewley recorded the only conversion of the contest, as he etched his name on the scorer’s sheet in the eighth minute.
In the earlier quarterfinal match, the DC Ballers defeated the Pro Ballers 1-0. The tournament continues on Wednesday at the same venue as the semi-final segment. At 19:00 hours, Speightland will match skills with Hururu in the women’s division, while DC Ballers will take aim at YMCA in the first semi-final of the men’s segment.
At 21:00hrs, Dynamo will face off against Aroaima in the second match of the women’s final four section, while Platinum Side will tackle LA Ballers in the second men’s semi-final encounter.
