Excavator operator shot during robbery at Good Hope

Thirty-one-year-old Gowtam Williams, an excavator operator of Hiberna, Region Two (Pomeroon-Supenaam) is currently nursing wounds about his body after he was shot in the wee hours of Tuesday morning. He is currently in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at the Suddie Public Hospital.

Williams was at a popular rum shop in Good Hope, on the Essequibo Coast, when he shot and robbed.

According to reports, at about 03:30 hours, he went to use the urinal in front of the establishment when he was approached by two armed men who attacked and robbed him, shooting him some nine times.

The bandits stole Williams’ iPhone and two gold chains before fleeing the scene. 

 His sister Devika Williams related that her brother went to use the urinal when the two men with masks and armed with guns approached him and fired a shot in his foot. She said they then snatched his gold chains and fired a shot at his abdomen. They took his second chain along with his phone and discharged more rounds. 

“They really did my brother bad, they robbed he and took off his chain he held on to the gun and tried to fight back but they the one got angry and started to shoot him in he belly and then escaped,” the sister recounted. 

Williams was shot in his right foot, twice in his left foot and three times in the abdomen.
