Continuous rainfall forced the Guyana Harpy Eagles practice match at GCC, Bourda to be abandoned without a ball bowled

Officials at the Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) were forced to call off the first scheduled practice match between Matthew Nandu’s XI and Antony Adams’ XI after torrential rainfall on Tuesday night left the venue, the Georgetown Cricket Club (GCC) Ground at Bourda under water. It is unclear whether or not the match will be played at a later date.  The match, originally slated to be the first of two Guyana Harpy Eagles practice matches between the two sides picked from a pool of youngsters and senior players, did not see any action as the first day on Tuesday was also rained out.

The second match slated for January 16-19 will remain as scheduled. Several youngsters including 14-year-old Adrian Hetmyer from Berbice are in the mix. Others include the uncapped Jonathan Van Lange, Zachary Jodah, Aryan Persaud, Thaddeus Lovell and Bruce Vincent.

The matches will serve as part of the Guyana Harpy Eagles preparation for the upcoming season of the Cricket West Indies (CWI) Four Day Championship. They won that title last year making it the 12th instance that the Guyanese have done so.
