Guyanese basketball player loses on collegiate circuit following two-game win streak

Guyanese basketball player Israel Yaw’s two-game win streak ended on Monday against Coppin State University, as his team, the University of Maryland, lost 55-58 at the Physical Education Complex in Baltimore, Maryland.

In seven minutes of play, Yaw recorded two points and as many rebounds. Yaw was on a two-game winning streak following wins against Morgan State University [75-74] and Clarks Summit University [95-37].

With the defeat, his team’s record drops to 4-10. The former Plaisance Guardians standout is slated to return to court tomorrow against Howard University.

Yaw had previously attended ASA College and appeared in 22 matches. He averaged 12.5 points and 8.4 rebounds per game during his junior-collegiate career.
