Cyclist dies on Queenstown Public Road

A 37-year-old labourer died when he was struck down by a motor car while cycling on the Queenstown Public Road on Friday at about 8.30 pm.

Dead is Garfield Bridgemohan of School Street, Queenstown, Essequibo Coast, Region Two.

According to information received,  the driver claimed that he was heading north on the Queenstown Public Road when the cyclist swerved in front of his car resulting in the man being struck.

The driver is currently in police custody.

According to the deceased’s eldest sister, Malinda McGarrell, she received a call from her sister that her brother was involved in an accident and was in the Suddie Public Hospital. 

She said that when relatives arrived at the hospital, they saw Bridgemohan with injuries about his body. He eventually succumbed while being treated.

The family is traumatized over the entire ordeal.

The body is currently at the Suddie Mortuary awaiting a post mortem examination.
