Windsor Forest, McGill, CI register easy wins

Windsor Forest, McGill, and Cornelia Ida (CI) recorded lopsided wins when the ‘Jits and Neelam’ 40-over Cricket Championship continued on Sunday.

At the Canal Sports Club ground, Windsor Forest defeated Leonora by 222 runs. Batting first, Windsor Forest recorded 283 all out in 33 overs. Sachin Balgobin smashed 111, while Kenzo Baksh added 67 runs. In response, Leonora was dismissed for a paltry 61 in 13 overs. Teddy Wong offered resistance with 33 runs. Chetram Nauth was the pick of the bowlers, with 3-3 in two overs.

Over at the Belle Vue venue, McGill Cricket Club defeated Cold Fusion by 10 wickets. Asked to bat first, Cold Fusion was bundled out for 134. Kayon Alexander held the inning together with an aggressive 87 from 60 deliveries, while Tavindra Mangra supported with 27 runs.

Travis Persaud

For the bowlers, the trio of Ganesh Puran, Abdul Razack, and Sudesh Persaud recorded 2-12, 2-20, and 2-38, respectively. In reply, McGill stormed to 111 without losing, as Ronaldo Renee and Travis Persaud scored 57 and 53 runs, respectively.

Meanwhile, at the Zeelugt ground, Cornelia Ida (CI) defeated Meten-Meer-Zorg by 126 runs. Batting first, CI tallied 237 all out in 30 overs. Akshaya Persaud led the way with 52 runs, while Harrinarine Bissoondyal, Naveed Ali, and Aditya Persaud supported with 40, 29, and 26 runs, respectively.

Carl Brown registered 3-42 with the ball, while off-spinner Ganguly Muneshwar snared 3-46. In reply, Meten-Meer-Zorg could only muster 111, with Muneshwar scoring the most with 40 runs. Ushardeva Balgobin was the primary threat with the ball, as he recorded 3-16, while Khalid Mohamed and Thaddeus Lovell accumulated 2-12 and 2-18, respectively.
