YBG commences school basketball season with Saturday’s Challenge Series

Youth Basketball Guyana will commence its 2024 season of activities with its 5×5 Challenges Series and Shooting Competition on February 24th-25th at the National Gymnasium, Mandela Avenue, from 10:00 a.m.

This was confirmed by a release from the entity. According to the correspondence, the competition serves as a warm-up programme for teams in the five age-group divisions.

Meanwhile, their regional conference tournaments will commence on March 15th and conclude on May 5th. The six regional zones are: Region #3 & East Bank Demerara; Region #4 – Georgetown & East Coast Demerara; Region #5; Region #6 – New Amsterdam and Corentyne; Region #7 and Region #10.

The four divisions that will be contested in the aforementioned event are boys U14, U16, U18, and girls 14-18.

YBG will also institute the inaugural Junior Basketball Network, which is a primary school project to introduce the game to players. This will occur on May 12th, 19th, 26th, June 2nd, 9th, and 16th.

The Tertiary League will then take centre stage from May 5th, 12th, 19th, 26th, June 2nd, 9th, and 16th. This will be followed by the National School Basketball Festival from June 28th-July 7th. 

The final two events on their calendar are the Titan Bowl and the Tertiary Knockout Championship, which will be played simultaneously on December 12th, 13th, 14th, and 15th, respectively.
