x The police in Region Six are investigating an incident which resulted in the region’s deputy regional executive officer’s mother being shot.
According to information gathered, the shooting incident happened just after midnight at Sheet Anchor Public Road, East Canje Berbice on Tuesday.
The victim, Fay Samaroo, 54, unemployed of Lot 6 Sheet Anchor Public Road, East Canje Berbice sustained gunshot wounds.
According to information gathered, the woman, who is the mother of Mary Samaroo, the region’s DREO, sustained two gunshot injuries and is currently hospitalized at the New Amsterdam Public Hospital.
Commander of Region Six, Shivpersaud Bacchus last evening said that the woman’s condition remained serious but stable.
Based on information gathered, a masked gunman opened fire at the location on Tuesday resulting in the woman being injured.
Bacchus last evening said that investigations were still ongoing.
