The winner of the Demerara Cricket Board’s (DCB) Inter-Association U19 50-Over competition was never in doubt, but the Georgetown Cricket Association (GCA) cemented their status as the best association in the zone with a 149-run dismantling of their East Bank Cricket Association (EBCA) counterparts.

After winning the toss and electing to bat, Alvin Mohabir struck a vital 54 off 48 with eight fours and two maximums, while Mavindra Dindyal (37), Jayden Dowlin (30), and Dave Mohabir (25) helped take GCA to 212-10.

They had an inauspicious start to their innings, losing opener Ryan Latif in the second over with the score at 18. However, Dindyal and skipper Mohabir staged a revival; however, after the duo’s dismissals, wickets fell regularly, and it was only through Dowlin and Dave Mohabir’s rearguard cameos that they took their side to a respectable total before being bowled out inside 40 overs.

Spinner Krsna Singh snared 2-40 while Anthony Lim grabbed identical figures (2-40) to emerge as the top bowlers for East Bank.

In response, the East Bank innings never got off the ground as Wavell Allen and Dave Mohabir turned in devastating spells to extinguish any hopes of an upset. Allen, with 5-15, put an immediate stop to the East Bank chase while Dave Mohabir churned out 4-21 as the two-man show bowled GCA to a commanding win.

East Bank were bowled out for just 63 in 23.4 overs with the Lim’s; wicketkeeper Josiah (15) and Anthony (12) were the only players to reach double digits. The player of the match was Dave Mohabir for his all-round efforts with bat and ball.
