Good Hope man gets 36 months for possession of narcotics

A 23-year-old Good Hope man who was arrested recently for the possession of narcotics for the purposes of trafficking, was on Friday sentenced to 36 months’ imprisonment.

Alvin Roland, a 23-year-old resident of Good Hope, East Coast Demerara who was arrested on April 4, appeared at the Vigilance Magistrates’ Court before Magistrate Orinthia Schmidt where he was charged under Section 5 (1) (a) (i) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (Control) Act.

The accused plead guilty to the offence and was subsequently sentenced to 36 months imprisonment.
