Tevin Imlach recorded an unbeaten 101 while Veerasammy Permaul snared a five-wicket haul as Guyana tightened their grip against the Jamaica Scorpions at the end of day two of the Cricket West Indies 4-Day Championship at Sabina Park.

Imlach, who had retired hurt early in his innings on the opening day, recorded his second consecutive first-class century, alongside the magnificent 155 by Kemol Savory, who had rescued the team from dire straits on day one, as Guyana amassed 424 against the hosts.

Permaul then made his presence felt in the encounter as he recorded 5-55 from 21 overs to leave the Jamaican innings in a tailspin at 153/9. Emerging fast-bowler Isai Thorne recorded 2-15, while Ronaldo Alimohamed and Gudakesh Motie tallied 1-19 and 1-46, respectively.

Brandon King scored the most with 32 runs, while Ramaal Lewis contributed 24 runs. Unbeaten by 21 runs is Romaine Morris.

Meanwhile, at the Coolidge Cricket Ground in Antigua and Barbuda, the Windward Islands Volcanoes lead the West Indies Academy by 169 runs after ending the day at 165/7 in their second inning.

Alick Athanaze and Kavem Hodge led the scoring for the Volcanoes, who tallied 162 all out in their first inning with 89 and 41 runs apiece. Earlier in the day, the West Indies Academy was dismissed for 158. Carlon Bowen-Tuckett and Kadeem Alleyne scored 36 and 35 runs apiece. Gilon Tyson was the pick of the bowlers with 5-50.

Over at the Queen’s Park Oval in Trinidad and Tobago, the Leeward Islands Hurricanes trail the Barbados Price by a mammoth 445 runs. The Hurricanes ended day two on 97/1, with Keacy Carty undefeated on 64 and Mikyle Louis unbeaten on 25.

Barbados in their first inning, declared on 542/9. Kraigg Brathwaite tallied 189, while Roston Chase and Zachary McCaskie scored 127 and 101, respectively. Rahkeem Cornwall was the pick of the bowlers with 5-132.

At the Frank Worrell Memorial Field in Trinidad and Tobago, the Combined Campuses and Colleges (CCC) Marooners trail the hosts, the Red Force, by 482 runs after ending on 109/5. Kamil Pooran top-scored for the Marooners with 40 runs.

Red Force declared 591/7 in their first inning. Amir Jangoo recorded a mammoth 218, while Jason Mohammed tallied 157. Joshua Da Silva, Kjorn Ottley, and Terrence Hinds scored 79, 47, and 35 runs, respectively.
