Police in Regional Division #2 are investigating the wounding of Indeo Miguel, a 24-year-old miner who resides at Karawab, Pomeroon.
The police said in a statement yesterday that the incident occurred on Wednesday at approximately 19:00 hours at Toroparu Backdam, located in the Middle Mazaruni River.
Inquiries disclosed that the victim left his camp and went to a nearby shop, where he began imbibing. Upon his return, it is claimed that he declared he was leaving the job, which seemed to annoy the suspect who was armed with a cutlass. The suspect then confronted the victim and dealt him a chop to the left side of his abdomen.
The victim was rushed to the E.T.K. mining company infirmary, where he was treated by a Medex who was on duty. He was later transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation and admitted as a patient.
