Machinery Corporation [MACORP] on Monday announced that nine technicians [eight males and one female] from its 16th Heavy Equipment Maintenance and Electric Power Generation Training programme graduated at MACORP’s Providence location last Friday.

The four top performers were Alex Bahadur, Nateisha Naomi [the lone female], Imran Mohamed, and Tyrese Rose.

A press release from MACORP said that Miguel Oviedo, MACORP’s Training Director, who spoke at the ceremony, reminded the graduates about the abundant career opportunities awaiting them in Guyana’s flourishing economy. He commended them for their dedication and encouraged them to explore the global trainee technicians’ programme, which opens doors to a world of possibilities.

This training, according to the press release, encompassed both theoretical knowledge sessions as well as practical skills training within a period of six months and trainees were given the opportunity to begin their career at MACORP upon completion of the programme.

Mark Roberts, Senior Education Officer at the Ministry of Education, according to the release, commended MACORP for its inclusive approach, particularly in encouraging female participation in non-traditional sectors. The single female graduate, Nateisha Naomi, specialized in Electrical Power Generation Level 1 while the eight males specialized in Heavy Equipment Maintenance Level 1 Training. Roberts applauded the company’s provision of up-to-date equipment and training, essential for the development of young talent in Guyana.

Azeem Ali, a former participant whose journey began 12 years ago, shared his sentiments on the profound impact the programme has had on his career at MACORP. Ali has since contributed to numerous critical projects, including the Liza Destiny offshore oil project, and is now one of MACORP’s team members serving the marine/oil and gas sector.
