More body cameras to be acquired for police

With optimism that the use of Portable Video Recording (PVR) devices also known as body cameras will not only increase accountability, transparency and public trust but also influence the behaviour of its ranks, the Guyana Police Force (GPF) has been actively employing the equipment in  its daily operations.

Sod-turned for nine-storey US$15M Aiden-brand hotel

The sod was turned yesterday for the construction of a US$15 million Aiden Hotel, the country’s first franchise “boutique” hotel, which is expected to provide jobs for 150 local workers during the construction phase and no less than 50 others once operations begin.

President commits to police reform

Admitting that the image of the Guyana Police Force (GPF) needs repairing, President Irfaan Ali yesterday committed to retooling the force to ensure it can keep up with national development.

Contract signed for US$12.7M ferry

The Transport and Harbours Department (T&HD) yesterday signed a US$12.7M contract with an Indian company to commence the construction of an ocean-going passenger and cargo ferry for the North West District and other parts of the country.
