Cops cracking down breaches of COVID-19 restrictions

Police are cracking down on persons who are breaching the emergency directives put in place to prevent the spread of COVID-19, including those not abiding by the national curfew and some businesses that are still operating although they have not been deemed essential services.

Only 25 ballot boxes recounted on day one

Only 25 ballot boxes from a total of 2,339 were counted on day one of the long-awaited recount of votes from the March 2 General and Regional Elections and after a late start yesterday,  various hiccups and getting used to the procedures, today will give a  clearer picture of whether the projection of 25 days for completion will have to be drastically revised.

All set for recount

With all the ballot boxes transported yesterday to the Arthur Chung Conference Centre (ACCC), the recount of votes from the March 2nd elections is finally set to begin this morning even though there was a late concern raised by the PPP that the Chief Election Officer should not have sole possession of the crucial Statements of Recount at any time.

PAHO/WHO projects 1,400 coronavirus cases for Guyana

While Guyana’s confirmed cases of novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) remain at nine after almost three weeks since the first was confirmed, Minister of Public Health Volda Lawrence yesterday disclosed that it is projected that the country could record as many as 1,400 and she assured that the necessary measures are being implemented to handle the situation.
