Citizens protest Exxon contract, cost of living

A group of Guyanese on Thursday held a peaceful protest outside of the Georgetown High Court to protest against rising cost of living and the country’s deal with ExxonMobil.

Gov’t banking on expansion, new farming techniques to reduce food imports by 2025 – Ali

Aside from contributing to the overall CARICOM aim of reducing food imports by 25 per cent by 2025, Guyana has a number of internal initiatives planned as it has set the same internal target which it hopes to attain through initiatives such as agricultural expansion, modern farming initiatives, while ramping up the production of high value crops and building the infrastructure for easier transport of crops, President Irfaan Ali says.

Teen charged with causing deaths in De Willem crash

Matthew Ambedkar, who was driving the vehicle that crashed into a bar at De Willem Public Road, West Coast Demerara (WCD) on Monday night and killed three men, was yesterday remanded to prison after he was charged three counts of causing death by dangerous driving.

President charges police force to ‘up its game’

Saying that the country’s security needs to be boosted, President Irfaan Ali yesterday charged the Guyana Police Force (GPF) to “up its game” particularly as it relates to crime fighting to meet the needs of the country in light of the economic expansion and transformation that is occurring.
