Letters to the Editor

A Trinidadian remembers the Kissoons

Dear Editor, While polling in Trinidad in the critical St Joseph constituency, I met Uncle Lenny Lall, who, in addition to relating his opinion on the upcoming elections in Trinidad, had an interesting story to tell of his work experience in Guyana and about Guyanese hospitality after he realized I am Guyanese.

Establish a Truth and Reconciliation Commission

Dear Editor, Hardly a day passes without an embarrassing soap opera-like episode in Guyana, but at the end of the day regardless of where the blame falls, the only people who are suffering are our hard-working Guyanese men and women, not to mention our large youth population which is caught in this acid-like blame game.

Wild eddo lesson

Dear Editor, We learn little things from our environment and nature every day once we pay attention.

Correction to location of recording

Dear Editor,   Further to my letter of August 10 (‘Stand firm against our gov’t paying anything to Rudisa/CIDI,’ SN), I wish to apologize to you and your readers for I quoted the wrong reference with respect to the CCJ hearings.

Jagdeo gives hope

Dear Editor, I am elated and ecstatic to see star politician, Dr Bharrat Jagdeo in the limelight again.

A working class budget

Dear Editor, I believe that the $221 billion dollar budget presented by the A Partnership for National Unity+Alliance For Change coalition government under the theme of a fresh approach to the good life in a green economy, is a working class budget.

Granger addressed a matter of importance to all Guyanese

Dear Editor, After abstaining for an extended period from submitting letters to the press, I decided to write this letter because, in my view, President David Granger, in his speech to the forum on the state of the African Guyanese, as reported in the Stabroek News, August, 10, ‘Granger calls for revival of village economies,’ has addressed honestly a matter of great sensitivity and utmost importance to all Guyanese.

Why can’t Gecom’s database be used as a crime-fighting resource?

Dear Editor, The inability of the police thus far to identify, much less arrest, the murderer of Danrasie Ganesh of Montrose despite the availability of his fingerprints all over the crime scene has caused me once again to think of Gecom’s searchable database of registrants and its possible use to fight crime.
