Letters to the Editor

A gross violation of human rights

Dear Editor, How is it that the alleged sexual assault on Colwyn Harding is still being investigated two months after it is said to have occurred, whilst Mr Harding remains hospitalised?

Phone service down for weeks

Dear Editor, I would like to express frustration at the unconcerned attitude of GT&T for not fixing the telephone services of dozens of residents in the East Canje area, particularly  Cumberland Village.

People must learn to listen to one another

Dear Editor, In all the debates on the various issues which are attracting our attention and interest from time to time, whether it be the opinion-makers in feature columns and readers’ letters in our newspapers, between leaders of rival political parties, or among members of the public, we can see clearly that everyone is so convinced of the rightness of his/her own position, and so intent on converting everyone else to his/her own views, that people are simply not listening to one another.

Correction

Dear Editor, I refer to my column, ‘Righting the wrongs: the role of the Ombudsman,’ (SN, January 18) in which I inadvertently stated that the role of the Ombudsman was enshrined in our Constitution in 1996.

When will the dead finally rest in peace?

Dear Editor, It is already very painful that the remains of family, relatives and friends entombed for several years cannot be visited because their last resting places are covered with bush, but now we are confronted with another situation.

Farewell Terry Holder

Dear Editor, Another good Guyanese has gone. Farewell Terry Holder ‒ he always had a smile and a twinkle in his eye.
