Dear Editor,
The Essequibo Technical Institute (ETI) is one of two tertiary institutions on the Essequibo Coast, the other being a branch of the Guyana School of Agriculture.
Dear Editor,
There is much to be said about President Ramotar’s recent address at Babu Jaan.
Dear Editor,
In Notice Paper No 123 of the Tenth Parliament of Guyana, it was observed that in response to a question raised by Mr Ramjattan, MP, as to whether the developer of the Hope Canal Project had submitted any data to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Mr Robert Persaud, Minister of Natural Resources and Environment, in a written reply stated that the developer of the construction of the Hope Canal Project had submitted to the EPA a ‘Feasibility Study’ for the project.
Dear Editor,
I have been writing about the situation in the Paradise Multi-Purpose Cooperative Society (PMCS) since 2010 and there have been supporting letters by other concerned and vocal Guyanese, but with the exception of a March 2012 visit by Minister of Labour and Cooperatives, Dr Nanda Gopaul who promised to commission an audit of the Society’s affairs, and indeed ordered one, there has been not one peep from any parliamentarian, interest group, or media representative on the concerns expressed on these matters.
Dear Editor,
Salt water from the Atlantic Ocean came into the Mahaicony River, on the southern side of the public road where they have several coconut estates.
Dear Editor,
On March 2, tragedy struck. A police rank was caught on video beating at least three men who appeared to be trying to protect a woman and her child protesting a Geology and Mines Commission operation in Region Nine, Marudi.
Dear Editor,
There is a video circulating on YouTube right now of police beatings at Marudi, and there is outrage.
Dear Editor,
The month of March is dedicated by the PPP to the memory of the late Dr Cheddi Jagan, who is regarded by many as the Father of this Nation.
Dear Editor,
Regarding your news item (Feb 22) on Speaker Raphael Trottman’s ruling to allow Member of Parliament Clement Rohee to speak in Parliament in his capacity as minister, the opposition wasted some eight months on what was a non-issue.
Dear Editor,
There is a health centre at Britannia village West Coast Berbice, with a house for a medex.
Dear Editor,
As I and others continue to be deeply touched by Guyana’s alarming crime-rates, I have to take note of the administrative reshuffle that was recently announced by Police Commissioner (ag) Leroy Brumell.
Dear Editor,
A few things. Firstly, the calypso ban. What has been sad is that theprevailing attitude to this has been, as Dave Martins summed up in his otherwise excellent article:
“The ban, however misconceived, is a done deal.
Dear Editor,
I endorse the spirit of Nigel Hughes’ letter (`Guyanese may now be willing to urge their political representatives to talk about urgent constitutional reform before the next elections’, Stabroek News, March 2).
Dear Editor,
I am writing this letter with frustration after four weeks of waiting for the City Council or contractor trucks to pass through Middle Road and collect our garbage; it is the most ridiculous situation ever I could remember.
Dear Editor,
Now that the Commission has issued its report, its denunciation of Desmond Trotman’s unapologetic support of Lindeners’ action shows an inadequate understanding of the facts.
Dear Editor,
Having read Mr Charles R Ramson’s latest fulmination against the opposition in the current Parliament (‘The demand for Rohee’s resignation was a fatuous figment…’ SN, February 28), I am left to reflect on the mentality which allows some to condemn, rightly so, perceived wrongdoing in those we oppose but defend similar tendencies in those we call our comrades.
Dear Editor,
As an old overseas Guyanese reading papers from Guyana, one is either amused or angry at the news. There
Dear Editor,
Alcoholism remains a huge problem for Guyanese society and is associated with many health related problems including high blood pressure and stroke.
Dear Editor,
The reported banning of the year’s calypsos, or some of them from the government’s radio station or radio and TV stations is a denial of freedom of expression in art.
Dear Editor,
It was just after 8 am on January 12, 2013.
