Dear Editor, The other day a highly respected compatriot expressed in a letter to the editor his understandable disappointment at the misuse of the platform provided at Highbury on May 5 to celebrate Indian Arrival Day.

Dear Editor, I read in the papers of the 14-year-old girl who thrashed the man who pounced on her while on her way to school, apparently with intent to rape or molest her in whatever way.

Dear Editor, The authorities, whoever they are, that allowed the remains of Guyana’s most famous poet to rest at Seven Ponds cannot now deny that honour to Guyana’s most famous sculptor.

Dear Editor, On behalf of the Guyana United Artists (GUA) I wish to convey to the family and relatives of the late Maestro Philip Moore our deepest heartfelt sympathy.

Dear Editor, There is something about animals in distress that tugs at our heart strings and makes many of us want to take action.

Dear Editor, Shivnarine Chanderpaul has, without doubt, earned the right to be rated the number one batsman in the cricketing world by the ICC, and his recent 87 not out against England in the first Test at Lords, when his fellow WI players were faltering big time, further underscores his unique batting prowess and entitlement to such rating.

Dear Editor, The death of Philip Alphonso Moore leaves Guyana with a great void, spiritually, artistically and culturally.

Dear Editor, Mainly because of the inefficient way in which the Transport and Harbours Department ferries have been operating throughout the country, and with silted up channels, etc, ferries do not have departure times.
