Dear Editor, It is interesting that Mr Raul Khan, a resident of Diamond Housing Scheme, wrote in very condescending terms about the garbage pile-up in his area.

Dear Editor, I was seriously ill on November 28, 2011 and was rushed to the Emergency Department at the Georgetown Public Hospital at about 4 pm.

Dear Editor, I have been asked to reply to P Harris in a letter to your newspaper that accuses Capitol News of airing a 10-second video clip of children in a school during the recent police crackdown on peaceful protestors that the letter described as “not genuine” and a “fake.”

Dear Editor, My attention was drawn to an article headlined ‘Community development remains a dream for the hinterland‘ published in the Stabroek News dated Thursday, December 1, 2011 and written by Shaun Michael Samaroo, a former journalist of your newspaper.

Dear Editor, Now that the integrity of the election has been established, and  vouched for by impartial observers, is it not time to commend the Chairman of Gecom, the six Commissioners from the governing party and the opposition, the Chief Elections Officer and the staff of Gecom for a job very well and devotedly done, deserving the nation’s thanks? 

Dear Editor, Given the campaign declarations of the 3 parties slated to be in Parliament, I want to call on them to ensure that their nominees to the House live up to expressed commitments.

The Guyana Human Rights Association (GHRA) is proposing that a national consultation/conversation/dialogue be set in train aimed at a better understanding of the political significance of ethnicity in Guyana.

Dear Editor, According to the constitution Donald Ramotar  is the legitimately elected President of Guyana, and no one should dispute that.

Dear Editor, Now that, after what seemed an eternity, the final results are in and the winner declared, I wish to extend congratulations to President Donald Ramotar and the PPP/C.

Dear Editor, Guyana currently stands at a crossroads. Politically we are entering new territory and as result it can be expected that our first steps may be a bit uncertain.

Dear Editor, It is heartening to read your front page headline news (SN, Dec 8) that four individuals (one each from the PPP and APNU and two from the AFC) are interested in being the Speaker of the new parliament which will be constituted very soon as well as the news item that the Speaker will be selected by consensus (SN, Dec 9).

Dear Editor, The 2011 general election is over, even though the dust has only temporarily settled.

Dear Editor, Now that some of the elections’ debris seems to be settling, I thought it might be a good time to review Vishnu Bisram’s pre-elections poll findings and compare these with how the electorate actually voted on November 28.

Dear Editor, As far as I know, an ex-president of Guyana does not have a constitutional role in the country.

Dear Editor, May I offer my congratulations to Donald Rabindranauth Ramotar on being elected the 7th President of the Co-operative Republic of Guyana at the 2011 General Elections.

Dear Editor, Here we go again. Why does the leadership of the PNC continue to drag their followers through a never ending emotional rollercoaster ride without telling them the truth? 

Dear Editor, Today we are hearing that people are marginalised, people are discriminated against, people are being denied jobs after they have gotten a university degree, etc.

Dear Editor, During the heat of the campaign when we were speculating about the margin the PPP would win by, some people said the PPP would get no less than 60% of the votes.

Dear Editor, Last Sunday, while driving to church, as I approached the junction at Mandela Avenue and the East Bank Highway, one of two young girls who were selling newspapers, attempted to cross the road, causing me to ‘brakes up.’
