Letters to the Editor

GWI intends to meter 100% of the nation

Dear Editor, GWI wishes to express gratitude to your publication and Ms Anthea Spencer for the comments published in the Wednesday August 31 edition of your newspaper (‘Water meters should be installed in every home to help conserve water‘).

Staff problems?

Dear Editor, Unfortunately, the department at the Guyana Public Hospital which is responsible for collecting blood samples seems to be understaffed.

Severely punish those who murder the elderly

Dear Editor, Your editorial of August 25 captioned ‘Murdering the elderly,’ posited a strategy which you implied may deter the murder of elderly persons because they won’t be living alone, but it failed to address the phenomenon of having persons in our society callous enough to commit such acts.

Abuse was inappropriate

Dear Editor, I read with dismay the article appearing in your Sunday issue titled ‘Muhammad’s abuse misdirected,’ and I believe that the Kashif and Shanghai Orgainzation owes Stabroek News a huge apology.

Guyana’s economy shrank between 1964 and 1992

Dear Editor, Carl Greenidge ought to be ashamed of himself and should know that his recent press statements are not only intellectual dishonesty, but reckless (‘The debt inherited by the PPP/C in 1992…‘ Sunday Stabroek, August 21).

Distorting history

Dear Editor, I refer to an article that was carried in your daily on August 20, titled ‘Australia overall selection after Ashes review.‘

Destinies

Dear Editor, She is a beauty; she is named after the wife of Jupiter, the Roman king of the gods.
