Dear Editor, I would like to congratulate the Guyana Amateur Powerlifting Federation (GAPF) and their outstanding athletes who performed excellently at the 5th IPF/NAPF CPC, maintaining Guyana’s dominance in regional powerlifting.

Dear Editor, I am moved to join others complaining about the continuing downward slide of local radio presentation, especially on 98.1 FM which I listened to from its opening in the late 1990s.

Dear Editor, It is regrettable that Guyanese have drawn the attention of the authorities in St Martin (St Maarten), with their criminal activities being the subject of international media attention.

Dear Editor, The anticipated semi-final between Pakistan and India which was played yesterday in Mohali, India, evoked so much emotion and interest that these two countries who fought each other since their independence have put on their sporting gear for the prize of national pride.

Dear Editor, I filed a complaint in 2005 against a lawyer for unprofessionalism which resulted in my case being lost in the court of justice.

Dear Editor, It is 4pm Friday afternoon (March 18) and it is blackout again in the Meadow Brook area.

Dear Editor, Mr Anil Mohabir Nandlall evades my request (‘Not the rule of law’ SN, March 22) for him to state his opinion as to whether Guyana observes Lord Bingham’s eight sub-rules of the rule of law and instead immodestly invites me to examine his legal career: (‘Not a response to letter on mischief caused by prescriptive title’ SN, March 25).

Dear Editor, In my opinion the standard of driving in Guyana has deteriorated over the years, but I was astonished to have a rude encounter with an arrogant man with a DPL number plate – one would have expected better.

Dear Editor, The other day I had reason to pay a visit to a well respected, upper middle-class Guyanese.

Dear Editor, Mr Mike Persaud in a letter in the SN of March 28, titled ‘A legacy in tatters’ seems to believe that he alone has all the answers to Guyana’s political problems.

Dear Editors, Some of the problems are going around and around in cycles in Guyana, despite new administrations or governments. 

Dear Editor, Some years ago a study was conducted of traffic accidents in Latin America and the Caribbean. 

Dear Editor, The public is anticipating with great interest the impending determination by the PPP of its presidential candidate.

Dear Editor, I happened to stumble, late as usual, across the news that Caricom and the UWI supposedly  “planned” a conference on ‘Collective Responsibility for the 21st century.’

Dear Editor, As a victim of the sloppy job done by the security service hired by government I can say that we need better security.

Dear Editor, I have just read that the incumbent ruling party in Canada, under Prime Minister Stephen Harper has “fallen after a no confidence vote passed in the country’s parliament,” and two observations came immediately to my mind.

Dear Editor, I totally agree with your editorial that the current WIndies cricket team is “not ready” (caption of Mar 25). 

Dear Editor, The sacking of Magistrate Omeyana Hamilton sends an unfortunate message to young professionals in Guyana.

Dear Editor,It was recently exposed that President Chávez of Venezuela purchased US$15B worth of armaments for his army, making that army much more powerful.
