Letters to the Editor

How can the Commander-in-Chief of the armed forces express such degrading sentiments about one who chose a military career?

Dear Editor, The County meetings of the PPP which are being held to endorse the selection of Mr Donald Ramotar as the PPP presidential candidate by that party’s Central Committee have become the occasion  for President Bharrat Jagdeo to once again spew venom against Mr David Granger, the elected presidential candidate of the People’s National Congress Reform.

‘Consensus represents an ideal state’

Dear Editor, Your editorial (Sunday, April 10) under the caption ‘Consensus’ demonstrated a clear bias against the PPP and its internal democratic processes with particular reference to the manner in which the party has identified its presidential candidate.

Bartica Football Association is active

Dear Editor, The Bartica Football Association would like to respond to various erroneous statements, that have been printed by sport reporters and in the letter columns of the daily newspapers, accusing the Bartica Football Association of being inactive and not carrying out its mandate as it relates to organizing football competitions at all levels; inefficient financial management; and the non-holding of mandatory meetings.

Radical changes will not solve the problems of the WI team

Dear Editor, I have noted with much anxiety and disbelief that the WI selectors have opted to radically shape what appears to be a team in transition, apparently in response to disgruntled Caribbean fans, including some of the WICB directors, who have publicly called for such changes including the sacking of some senior players after the World Cup debacle.

Teachers should be prepared to listen to students

Dear Editor, The Stabroek News of March 15 under the heading ‘Region moves to avert “crisis” at Linden school’ read: “Indiscipline and criminal activities at the Linden Foundation Secondary School have reach-ed a crisis state… According to Regional Chairman Mortimer Mingo, indiscipline in schools is widespread throughout the Region, but the situation at the Linden Foundation School demands immediate attention.”
