Letters to the Editor

Explanations

Dear Editor, The idea that Indians are voting race because of fear has replaced, in some narrations, one of the politicians’s explanations that was current from the fifties and which had become a standard by the end of the twentieth century.

Let the game decide

Dear Editor, The rift between the two Demerara Cricket Boards seems to be ultimately based on the disagreement about the number of delegates/votes from Georgetown, West Coast, West Bank, East Bank, and East Coast Demerara.

Dear Editor, As reported in SN of Feb 9, a site inspection team from the Ministry of Education concluded without checking other possible contributory causes that high wind loads on the morning of Feb 6 created pressures or suction on the sloping windward roof of the library building of the Cyril Potter College of Education (CPCE) causing about 75 % of its zinc sheets to be blown off.

Dear Editor, I was recently stopped by the traffic police in Lethem who have been undertaking an extended traffic campaign in the area; definitely more extensive than at any time in recent memory.

‘Gravel don’t travel’

Dear Editor, Mr VC Bird, the father of the nation of Antigua, once said, “gravel don’t travel,” and what he meant was that as Prime Minister of Antigua (for many years), his policy towards foreign and local investors was to invite them into Antigua, knowing full well that any hotels, condos, docks, beach development, housing construction, commercial buildings, etc, could not be dismantled and taken out but left to the general wealth of the people of Antigua.
