Letters to the Editor

Dress code

Dear Editor, I applaud the efforts by those in authority to enforce a ‘decent’dress code for persons entering certain government buildings/agencies.

Disappointed in Hearing Slaves Speak launch

Dear Editor, Interestingly enough it was my longtime Hindu friend who alerted, and eventually transported me, in excited expectation, to hear Hearing Slaves Speak at the Umana Yana on Wednesday, March 2, 2011.

SN article was ‘inaccurate’

Dear Editor, I write in relation to an article in the Stabroek News of Saturday, February,12, 2011 under the caption, ‘Lawyer’s court outburst results in further delay for client -discharge of jury in murder trial.’

Letter tried to damage good name of late Dr Jagan

Dear Editor, The letter by Sasenarine Singh of the AFC (SN, February 28), mildly correcting Malcolm Harripaul’s letter on Cheddi Jagan, even offering him a spot in the AFC, is indicative of the common ground both hold in trying to assassinate the character and good name of President Cheddi.

Wrongly listed as an NIS defaulter

Dear Editor, On Monday, February 28, 2011, at 10.30am, a member of the public brought to my attention the fact that the previous day, Sunday, February 27, 2011, in the ‘Weekend Magazine’ section of the Sunday Stabroek, a notice had appeared entitled, ‘National Insurance Scheme Employers indebted to the National Insurance Scheme.’

The global community should increase the pressure on Gaddafi to ease him out

Dear Editor, With regard to your editorial, ‘Pressure on Libya’ (SN, Mar 2), the international community (through the UN) is forced to take action against despotic ruler Muammar Gaddafi because no global power has influence against the Libyan strongman to regulate his behaviour and/or do the right thing as Ben Ali and Hosni Mubarak did.

Editorial neglected to highlight the challenges of climate change

Dear Editor, The recent statements in the Stabroek News editorial dated Monday, February 28, entitled ‘Six years of marking time’ reflects biased reporting and is not unexpected of the Stabroek News as it continues its campaign to malign the government by providing misinformation to the public.
