Letters to the Editor

Well done to Marian Burnett

Dear Editor, A photo is indeed worth a million and I have to give SN a ‘pump fist’  for  its back page report and picture dated May 22 of  the photo finish between overseas-based Guyanese Marian Burnett and Panama’s Andrea Ferris.

Double parking is dangerous

Dear Editor, A few weeks ago outside the GPO building in Robb Street there was a traffic gridlock which an armed policeman on duty was able to resolve.

Further question for NIS

Dear Editor, I would like to thank Ms Dianne Lewis Baxter for responding and addressing the issues raised in my letter of April 22, 2010 informing pensioners that should the first Monday of the month be a public holiday, pensioners can cash their cheques on the next working day, ie, Tuesday.

Report on Rupununi roads was accurate

Dear Editor, In a recent letter (‘Heavy rains wash away the best structures all over the world’ SN, May 20), the Prime Minister claimed bias by Stabroek News in “rushing to the judgment of poor quality roads” in South Rupununi.

The problem is not racism but radical ethnic polarization

Dear Editor, Lincoln Lewis claimed that: “The elephant in the room no one wants to talk about but remains the source of most of our conflicts and underdevelopment, is racism” (‘It is the primary responsibility of the people to bring about the change they desire’ SN, May 17).

Political posturing

Dear Editor, I wholeheartedly support any measure from any source that legitimately addresses and fights the drug scourge.

T&T election very close

Dear Editor, The latest findings from the NACTA opinion tracking poll up till Thursday show a dead heat, making it difficult to call the elections although pollsters and political analysts have come out predicting a victory for one or the other party.

No ‘clean hands’

Dear Editor, I essentially agree with Freddie Kissoon’s take on the recent sexual allegations issues, that Indians who are opposed to the PPP are being targeted.
