Dear Editor, With so many different oil companies staking out their claims off Guyana’s coast, could you say what became of the government decision in April this year to ask the International Court of Justice (ICJ) to proceed directly to the holding of oral hearings on the border controversy with Venezuela?

Any search for compromise by GECOM Chair on elections date will go against constitution

Dear Editor,  GECOM Chairman, Claudette Singh SC is reportedly seeking a compromise position with regards to the date for General and Regional Elections; the irony of this cannot be lost on anyone who has knowledge of Guyana’s electoral history, for it is the very same Claudette Singh (justice retired) who vitiated an entire election because of a ‘compromise’ made between the PPP and the PNC.
