President, Opposition Leader should meet on elections date, GECOM Chairman

Dear Editor, Now that the CCJ has ruled that the government has been brought down by a no confidence motion and that the appointment of the GECOM chair was not in accordance with the constitutional provisions, the most urgent requirement is for President Granger to meet with the Leader of the Opposition to discuss a date for general elections and a replacement candidate for GECOM Chairman.

Dear Editor, The Caribbean Court of Justice (CCJ) has finally rendered its long awaited ruling on the two critical constitutional matters pertaining to Guyana: The no confidence motion was validly passed and elections must be held within ninety days; and the Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM) Chair was improperly appointed.

Dear Editor, The mission statement of the Ministry of Public Infrastructure (MOPI) that is posted on the ministry’s website is “To plan, build and maintain a reliable, safe, efficient and cost-effective Main Road Network and Sea and River Defense system to protect life and property; support the movement of people, goods and services; reduce the cost of transportation; promote economic growth and quality of life and protect the environment.”

Dear Editor, Perusing some old 1972 newsprints during a research project, I came across a Guyanese actress who seemingly was about to make it big in movies but apparently it didn’t happen because of her belief that stripping for the movies was not healthy.
