Dear Editor,
Mr. Seelochan Beharry, an AFC candidate for parliament and a former member of the PPP who fell out with that party, in a letter captioned, `Bisram and the PPP’ (SN Nov 6) noted my presence at the India Day Parade 2011 along with that of representatives of the Guyana government and invited me to “offer some rational explanation …”.
Dear Editor,
Reading his letter titled ‘Like Dr Jagan, Ramotar is unpretentious and modest‘ (SN, November 5), I seriously wondered how Cheddi Berret Jagan II could commit this travesty of associating Cheddi Jagan with Donald Ramotar.
MF Global’s precipitous decline into bankruptcy last week must have jerked unpleasant memories in this region about disappearing investors’ and pension funds.
Dear Editor,
The University of Guyana Senior Staff Association (UGSSA) is extremely dismayed at the recent decision by the Appointments Committee to send to Council for further consideration the contracts of several lecturers, which had been already approved by the Vice Chancellor.
Dear Editor,
Some contend it is $3,000,000 per month or $36,000,000 per year, while others argue that it will be $1,000,000 per month, or $12,000,000 per year.
The mask is off. After standing aloof from the head of state’s obsessions with the genus corvus for the last few weeks, and uttering appeasing noises about a willingness to work with the opposition should he be elected, PPP/C presidential candidate Donald Ramotar finally broke cover in Bartica last Saturday and revealed his true face.
Dear Editor,
I would first of all like to quote from Michael Maxwell’s letter to KN headed ‘8% public servant pay increase is not what it seems,’ in which he states “… Jagdeo will retire like an Emperor with his ridiculous pension, gardener, cook, secretary, security guards, use of state motor vehicles, free travel the world over and more…” Mr Jagdeo’s need for employment may be redundant after such a magnanimous financial endowment.
Dear Editor,
The Office of the Prime Minister has noted the repetitive efforts being made by the political opposition parties, and regurgitated by much of the media, about the pension of President Bharrat Jagdeo, which would be the same as for all presidents.
Dear Editor,
I wish to correct an inaccuracy published in your today’s issue (Thursday, November 3, 2011), under the caption, ‘Ronald Bulkan, Charles Ceres on APNU Slate.’
Dear Editor,
Forget about the parties. Let’s examine the individuals. As election 2011 approaches I see no candidate that impresses me with the charisma of a president.
Dear Editor,
As election campaigning intensifies in Guyana, it is fascinating to see the many developments occurring with regard to political defections, new alliances, and the numerous ‘endorsements‘ by some notable Guyanese of public, political and/or business eminence.
Dear Editor,
Afrikans are a gravely misunderstood people and it is understandable why anyone who has not got rid of the brainwashing education would misunderstand even Afrikan enthusiasm.
Dear Editor,
Within the borders of this country there is more talent than is recognized, but there are fewer opportunities than most other countries where talent is not a challenge to those in authority but expertise to be nurtured for the goal of all.
Dear Editor,
I would like to declare that I will soon be putting an end to the seemingly unending speculation as to the party I will be supporting in the upcoming elections.
