Bisram’s letter contains two major errors

Dear Editor, I just read Mr Bisram’s letter in SN of November 7 (‘I attended the India Day parade as a reporter’) and the first sentence stated: “Mr Seelochan Beharry, an AFC candidate for parliament and a former member of the PPP who fell out with that party…” This first sentence contains two major errors.

Inconsistency

Dear Editor, Last year, Mr Jagdeo sounded quite statesman-like when he appealed to Buxtonians to forget occurrences of the past, so that the nation of Guyana could go forward with peace and compromise, but within a short while after that plea, Mr Jagdeo went to Babu John, Port Mourant and called on listeners to remember and to tell their young ones about the ills that the PNC government had done.

The things we vote for

There are now less than three weeks left until polling day and there are signs of a belated national focus on a general elections campaign that took its own sweet time to generate a meaningful level of public interest.

No post-election coalition can be formed to seize the presidency

Dear Editor, According to the Guyana Constitu-tion, Title 4, The President, Article 177 (2): “A Presidential candidate shall be deemed to have been elected as President and shall be so declared by the Chairman of the Elections Commission –– (a) if he is the only Presidential candidate at the election; or (b)where there are two or more Presidential candidates, if more votes are cast in favour of the list in which he is designated as Presidential candidate than in favour of any other list.”
