Dear Editor,
I refer to the letter by Prime Minister Samuel Hinds captioned ‘The procedure for computing the president’s pension is the same as that before Jagdeo came to office’ (SN, November 5).
Dear Editor,
‘Business Page‘ in this past Sunday Stabroek noted how the government has undermined the regional administrations and the local democratic organs across the country.
Dear Editor,
Leaders of government usually set the tone for the nation, among which integrity is established and respect is maintained, based on the things they say and do.
Dear Editor,
Last year, Mr Jagdeo sounded quite statesman-like when he appealed to Buxtonians to forget occurrences of the past, so that the nation of Guyana could go forward with peace and compromise, but within a short while after that plea, Mr Jagdeo went to Babu John, Port Mourant and called on listeners to remember and to tell their young ones about the ills that the PNC government had done.
Dear Editor,
It comes as no surprise that several Caricom members – Trinidad and Tobago, the Bahamas, Barbados, Jamaica and St Kitts and Nevis – will not support the Palestinian bid for statehood.

Dear Editor,
According to the Guyana Constitu-tion, Title 4, The President, Article 177 (2):
“A Presidential candidate shall be deemed to have been elected as President and shall be so declared by the Chairman of the Elections Commission –– (a) if he is the only Presidential candidate at the election; or (b)where there are two or more Presidential candidates, if more votes are cast in favour of the list in which he is designated as Presidential candidate than in favour of any other list.”
Dear Editor,
Mindful of the fact that Harry Gill enjoys certain notoriety in the letter columns of some newspapers, I am hesitant, yet compelled, to respond to his writings recently published with the title: ‘Was the AFC list …a false copy?‘
Dear Editor,
Mr. Seelochan Beharry, an AFC candidate for parliament and a former member of the PPP who fell out with that party, in a letter captioned, `Bisram and the PPP’ (SN Nov 6) noted my presence at the India Day Parade 2011 along with that of representatives of the Guyana government and invited me to “offer some rational explanation …”.
