Dear Editor,
The Demerara Cricket Board (DCB) consists of four associations, namely the Georgetown Cricket Association (GCA), the East Coast Cricket Board (ECCB), the East Bank Demerara Cricket Association (EBDCA) and the West Demerara Cricket Association (WDCA).
Dear Editor,
Permit me to respond briefly to Joey (Jagan)’s letter which appeared in your paper on April 16, captioned ‘Franklin not in a position to make allegations against Ramsaroop.’
It is ironic in many ways that need not be elaborated that Surinamese President Desi Bouterse last week admonished his police force not to behave like “Hitler’s Gestapo” and warning that those responsible for barbaric actions can expect severe sanctions.
Dear Editor,
I refer to a letter in the Stabroek News written by Christopher Ram under the caption ‘Serious questions remain about the LCDS including the wisdom of putting Norway funds into the Amaila project’ in its issue of April 11.
Both Bharrat Jagdeo and Robert Corbin have signalled their intention to occupy front seats in their parties’ respective bandwagons though one is inclined to wonder just how much good their attentions will do the parties’ presidential candidates.
Dear Editor,
Two years ago, President Jagdeo conceptualized what will undoubtedly become one of the most transformational social and economic development programmes ever undertaken in Guyana, the One Laptop Per Family (OLPF).
Dear Editor,
I wish to clarify a detail in the letter, ‘Franklin not in a position to make allegations against Ramsaroop’ by Dr Cheddi Jagan (Jr) (SN, April 16).
If the story of the government’s relations with the city council were to be made into a movie, no one would watch it because the plot would be so convoluted, so repetitious and so wearisome that it would be impossible to sustain the viewer’s interest beyond the first five minutes.
Dear Editor,
The announcement in your Saturday news article by PPP presidential candidate, Mr Donald Ramotar, that he is open to President Bharrat Jagdeo playing a role in a new government (assuming Mr Ramotar becomes President), comes as little or no surprise to me.
Dear Editor,
The PPP’s presidential candidate, Mr Donald Ramotar, recently expressed the view that he sees nothing fundamentally wrong with the Burnham constitution.
Dear Editor,
In his letter (‘Ram and Bulkan need to start getting their facts right,’ SN April 15), Dr Roger Luncheon, Head of the Presidential Secretariat, says – “Mr Ram and Dr Bulkan (as well as Mr Ramjattan and others) claimed in a letter to Norwegian Minister Erik Solheim that the only justification for the Amaila Hydro Power project was a one-and-a-half page entry in the LCDS.
Dear Editor,
My attention was drawn last week to a letter appearing in two of the daily newspapers’ letter columns calling for the establishment of an IMC for cricket in Guyana (‘The Minister should install an interim board at the GCB’ SN, April 9).
Dear Editor,
It has been reported that Mr Everard Franklin of GAP/ROAR has accused Peter Ramsaroop of “treachery,” etc, concerning the unity of JOPP; I would just like to state for the record, that I find it very strange that Mr Franklin would make such allegations when he, Mr Hardy and Mr Dev with the backing of the AFC, in the intensive deliberations leading up to the 2006 elections, were the ones who were responsible for the break-up of the Third Force platform which we were trying to put together.
Dear Editor,
The absence of the Guyana Football Federation President or an official representative from the inaugural Scotia Bank/Pepsi/ Guyana Sports Development Foundation (GSDF) Schools Football Academy, which was officially launched on Saturday, April 12, 2011 at the Carifesta Sports Complex, Carifesta Avenue, should at least be of major concern to all and sundry.
Dear Editor,
2011 being the election year for Guyana, it’s nice to see the politicians putting the needs of Guyanese on the back bench while they bicker with one another.
