Dear Editor,
Given our endowment of rice agricultural lands here in Region 2, it is a matter of common sense to expand the Aurora irrigation scheme in Region 2; that should be one of the main planks of our development strategy.
Dear Editor,
It’s with great pleasure that I commend the bold efforts of Messrs Donald Duff and Marlon Munroe, Sports Editor and journalist respectively, for the extensive coverage on the football saga that Stabroek Sports has been providing almost on a daily basis for the past two weeks.
Dear Editor,
I thank Dr Roger Luncheon for his attempt by way of a press release issued through his office to educate me about the Amaila Falls Hydro-Electric Project (AFHEP).
Dear Editor,
I refer to Christopher Ram’s letter of April 11 in SN, captioned ‘Serious questions remain about the LCDS including the wisdom of putting Norway funds into the Amaila project.’
Dear Editor,
After performing my morning chores on April 7, that included tending to my kitchen garden (it is flourishing) I placed some coffee to ‘perk’ and realized that nothing was happening.
Dear Editor,
With regard to your news item and letter on the selection of the WIndies 20/20 team, I don’t think the WIndies management and selection committee is serious about turning around the team to make it world class.
Beyond the diplomatic rapprochement sealed by the summit meeting between Colombia’s new President, Juan Manuel Santos, and President Hugo Chávez of Venezuela last weekend in the Colombian city of Cartagena de Indias, there were signs that another festering sore in Latin American relations might soon be healed.
Dear Editor,
With reference to the information from the press conference held by Minister Robert Persaud on April 12 about VHPI and reported variously in all three daily newspapers on April 13, perhaps you could jog the memory of Minister Robert Persaud about the wording of the National Forest Policy and the procedures of the Guyana Forestry Commission for handling applications for logging concessions?
Dear Editor,
In a letter in SN dated April 13 and captioned, ‘Consensus represents an ideal state,’ Mr Hydar Ally praised the PPP leadership as being very democratic and speaks of persons being able to subordinate their aspirations for the collective good of the organization – mind you not the good of the members, the supporters or the people of Guyana.
Dear Editor,
The County meetings of the PPP which are being held to endorse the selection of Mr Donald Ramotar as the PPP presidential candidate by that party’s Central Committee have become the occasion for President Bharrat Jagdeo to once again spew venom against Mr David Granger, the elected presidential candidate of the People’s National Congress Reform.
Dear Editor,
I wish to thank Janette Bulkan for her well researched letter in the SN, ‘Is the Vaitarna forest concession another Asian scam like Barama?’
