Dear Editor, Mr Ramkarran claims I lack comprehension (The Central Committee is the only body authorized in the PPP to decide on the presidential candidate, SN, December 24, 2010).

Dear Editor, Dr Jeffrey’s letter in SN of January 1 is excellent PR for candidate Ralph Ramkarran, but it is sorely lacking.

Dear Editor, I have noticed that in the media and in your publication that the Caricom has fired Mr Carl Greenidge at the insistence of the Government of Guyana.

Dear Editor, Had it not been for the wise and constructive statements from Mark Benschop on Plain Talk with Christopher Ram on January 2, I could have sworn that Mayor Hamilton Green’s weak responses belonged in those comical satirical pieces put together by the producers of Stretched Out Magazine or Prime News Not Necessarily The News.

Dear Editor, In what appears to be a forced awakening, an election year publicity stunt or a cheap gimmick, Minister Manzoor Nadir chooses to now publicly admit what the Guyana Bauxite & General Workers Union (GB&GWU), enlightened Guyanese and all trade unionists worth their stripes knew all along, that “The Guyana Bauxite and General Workers Union is the certified bargaining agent for a large section of [BCGI] workforce and [the company is] legally bound to treat with them.”

Dear Editor, After reading Roland Thorne’s letter ‘All PNCR members should be allowed to vote for the presidential candidate’ (SN, December 31, 2010) a couple of things need to be said.

Mrs Mara Thompson, the widow of the prime minister of Barbados David Thompson, announced last week that she was contesting the January 20, 2011 by-election for the St John parish seat which became vacant on the death of her husband in October last year.
