Dear Editor, The argument for educational dictators to be given authority to inflict pain and suffering on those members of our society whose cognitive growth has not yet crossed the threshold of concrete perceptions is essentially that discipline is essential.

Dear Editor, The front page picture in the Guyana Chronicle (11.01.07 of the horse that ran into a drain in its desperate attempt to escape the unbearable load of its cart and the whip of the cart driver, captures the kind of punishment animals are subjected to daily at the hands of cart drivers whose greed and lack of compassion lead them to these acts of brutality.

Dear Editor It was only a few days ago that I read an interesting but very sad letter by Mr Ainsworth Wong, which attended to the issues of democracy and government threatening freedom of expression and press freedom.

Dear Editor, As we enter 2007, cattle rearers in Region 2 are wondering if they have to endure another year without proper facilities for grazing and cattle rearing.

Dear Editor, I distinguish Mr Al Creighton from his former UG colleague Dr Desrey Fox, Prime Minister Sam Hinds, Home Affairs Minister Clement Rohee, Health Minister Dr Leslie Ramsammy and Mr Odinga Lumumba all of whom have suddenly discovered casino gambling as a development strategy for Guyana.

Dear Editor, Five months have already passed since my 9 year old son, Ramesh Loaknauth was the victim of a fatal accident on the public road near to his home at Dryshore, Essequibo Coast.

Dear Editor, I am shocked by the report in your newspaper about the government’s decision to withdraw all the advertising of the ministries from your publication.

The world grew a little colder, and larger, last July when the BBC revealed that “‘six degrees of separation’ may be the academic equivalent of an urban myth.”

Dear Editor, Your news item on Tuesday explaining the government’s decision to curtail awarding commercial advertisements to Stabroek News does not come as a surprise to many, including me.

Dear Editor, In February 2006, the Guyana Forestry Commission and the Forest Products Association issued a glossy brochure which claimed “Guyana is probably the only country in the world with a complete national log tracking system.
