Man dies after bikers collide at Lethem

A 23-year-old man is dead and another injured after the motorcycles that they were riding collided at the Lethem Airstrip road on Saturday night.

Clinton D’Oliveira, 23 years of St. Ignatius Village, Central Rupununi succumbed at the Lethem Hospital to the injuries he had suffered. Police said in a statement that investigations revealed that D’Oliveira was riding a motorcycle along the roadway when he collided with another motorcycle ridden by Jermaine Thakurdeen, 24 years of Central Rupununi, which was proceeding in the opposite direction. The incident occurred at about 7 pm on Saturday.

As a result of the collision both men suffered injuries and were taken to the Lethem Hospital. D’Oliveira later succumbed to his injuries while Thakurdeen was admitted to the medical institution, the statement said.
