Letters to the Editor

Guyana must say no to violence

Dear Editor, Fellow Guyanese, brothers and sisters and friends of Guyana, do all that you can to turn away from violence in any form – verbal abuse or physical harm.

David Granger is without shame in continuing to defy the will of the people

Dear Editor, It is clear as daylight on a bright sunny day, that David Granger, in power as a de facto President, with the full support of the police and army under his command, if not in absolute control, is most certainly complicit in an obvious and determined decision of APNU+AFC to remain in government regardless of the expressed will of our people in the 2nd March Elections.

Caricom team has reinforced our negative electoral conduct

Dear Editor, When President David Granger and Opposition Leader Bharrat Jagdeo along with Caricom and GECOM’s Chair signed the “aide memoire”, the document that stated the terms and conditions of the recount and verification of the votes cast in the ten electoral districts in the country, it was followed by a gazetted order that gives legality to the mandate of the recount process.

Associated Press report on Guyana’s elections was flawed

Dear Editor, Writing on Guyana’s Elections 2020, Associated Press accredited journalist Bert Wilkinson made the bizarre assertion that “Following a recount of some districts, Granger’s party was almost 160,000 votes behind the main opposition People’s Progressive Party”.
