Camptown lands sponsorship from Continental Group of Companies

One of Georgetown’s leading football teams Camptown has landed sponsorship from Continental Group of Companies and will now be known as Sunburst Camptown Football Club.

Company Secretary of the Continental Group of Companies, Percy Boyce Jr. said that his company was impressed with the proposal submitted by the club and decided to enter a partnership with the Campbellville-based Club.

“Following the submission of a very impressive proposal from the President of Camptown, apart from the game football, it was very clear that this Club was also about the personal development of youths, their good health and education, thus creating positive role models in the community,” he added.

Boyce handed over Sunburst branded uniforms and other important gear to Camptown Football Club’s President Troy Mendonca, who is also President of the Georgetown Football Association (GFA).

Mendonca, in brief remarks, disclosed that at the start of 2007 the club had embarked on a three-point mission that included the promotion of the highest quality of football in a safe and comfortable environment, establishing a vibrant nursery with programmes designed to enhance the educational, technical and psychological capabilities of young players and develop the Camptown ground. He said the projects involved a substantial amount of financial resources so the club decided to approach Continental Group of Companies, producers of Sunburst Orange Juice for sponsorship.

“The Camptown Football Club would endeavour its utmost through hard work and discipline to do justice to the Sunburst Brand and to achieve its goals,” Mendonca said in thanking the company for its undertaking.

Also witnessing the ceremony were marketing executive of Continental Group of Companies, Sabrina Panday, Neil Madhoo, accountant, and S. Baldeo – office manager while Camptown was represented by Mendonca , Leroy Prescott – first vice president, coach Mervyn “Pug” Wilson and captain Orlando Gilgeous.
