Guyana needs a government for the people

Dear Editor,

I recently visited Guyana after 15 years and my trip was a miserable one. Guyana has failed to attract foreign investors who would have helped any substantial development. There is no running water in our taps, frequent blackouts, road deterioration across the country, food too expensive for the average worker, airlines not operating on schedule discouraging visitors, not forgetting the baggage man at the airport who set me up. I could continue for pages about where our government has failed. Guyana needs a government for the people, a government which the people will respect, and a government which the people will trust. There are too many internal problems in the government which do not allow for it to function as it should.

Look, a beautiful country destroyed by greed and politics.

Yours faithfully,
