Kevin AndrewsEncouraging remarks by Clyde de Haart, Purchasing and Customer Service Director of Courts Guyana Incorporated was the first of his two tasks as his speech was immediately followed by the ceremonial kick- off to get the Courts Peewee football competition underway yesterday at the Banks DIH., Thirst Park ground. A flurry of goals marked the tournament’s return to the Georgetown Football Association (GFA) calendar of events as a total of 27 goals were scored in the eight contested matches.

Strike Again Football Club, which kept striking again and again,  registered the largest  defeat of the day a blow out over New Amsterdam United.

In other results, Thomas United overcame Fruta Conquerors, Santos were defeated by Mocha Champs, Green Acres Primary sunk Crane, Plaisance Panthers pounced on Marian Academy, Beacons thrashed Ann’s Grove United, Monedderlust mauled Pouderoyen and Camptown squeezed past Buxton United.

A stunning hat-trick from Kevin Andrews, who scored in the 15th, 31st and 36th minutes, led Thomas United past Fruta Conquerors who countered with two  goals both of which were scored by Ryan Hackett in the 38th and 39th-minute.

Kevon LiverpoolKeith Cains in the third and 11th, Hainsi Jones the 20th, Jermaine Fletcher 23rd, Akosi Jarvis 36th and Akeem Sam in the 40th all contributed to New Amsterdam’s misery as they were defeated by Strike Again while a double from Essan Anesis in the eighth and 12th minutes, led Mocha Champs to a 2 – 0 victory over Santos. Green Acres Primary weighed in one goal against Crane to go home victorious with Kegan Howard scoring in the 11th minute.

Plaisance Panthers tore apart Marian Academy with Simon Emanuel scoring the fastest goal of the competition in the second minute. He was followed by goals from Steffon Gisson in the fifth and a double from Kevon Liverpool in the 30th and 32nd minutes.

Oziel SmithThe combination of Clonbrook and Ann’s Grove Primary to form the Ann’s Grove United U-11 team was not enough as the first-time school participants were defeated by Beacons.

Goals in the fifth and eighth minutes by Ann’s Grove’s Kevin Williams and Jeremiah Gilbert confirmed a successful first half for Ann’s Grove.
But in a stunning comeback Beacons scored four  second –half goals which  included a hat trick from Kerrow Heywood (31st, 35th and 36th) which apparently immobilized  the Ann’s Grove players allowing  Kayode Lambert to deliver the final blow as Ann’s Grove crumbled to a 2-4 defeat.

Monedderlust slammed Pouderoyen by four goals as the final score of the game was 5 – 1.
Attyn Brown scored in the seventh minute for Monedderlust but an answer came soon after from Pouderoyen as Cornell Paul found the back of the net in the 12th as the two sides finished the 20-minute first half with the score tied.

The second half was totally shifted to the Monedderlust side as Kofi Campbell registered a goal in the 24th, Philip Jordan 35th while Akimo Watts joined the doubles party when he scored in the 35th and 39th minutes.

Camptown United had the largest crowd support as they overcame Buxton United in the final match of the day.
A goalless first half it was but the promising talent of the Camptown captain Oziel Smith saw him scoring the only goal in the 30th minute to guide his side to victory.
