Skeldon High tops Upper Corentyne Zone in Republic Bank under -15

Skeldon High School emerged top of their Upper Corentyne group when action in the Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) Republic Bank sponsored Right Start under-15 Inter secondary school cricket competition continued in the county of Berbice recently.

The group champions had resounding victories over Tagore Memorial Secondary and Skeldon Line Path Secondary respectively, with the latter ending as the group runners up on the back of some sterling contributions from middle order batsman Akram Razack who had scores of 58 and 48 and national under-15  cricketer Clinton Pestano who, in his new role of a medium pacer, took 10-53 in his two matches.
Off spinner Laikram Tamessar of Skeldon Line Path also had figures of 4-36 against the champions and 6-28 in his school’s victory over Tagore Memorial.

Scores in the games:
At Number 64, Skeldon High defeated Tagore memorial by 84 runs after winning the toss and scoring 142 from 26.4 overs. Razack struck 58 (7×4; 1×6) for his school as pacers Andrew Johnson and Kelvin Parmanan claimed 4-44 and 3-29 respectively.

In reply, Tagore Memorial were bowled out for 58 from 12.3 overs with Pestano claiming 6-23 and fast bowler Lorex Stewart 2-7.

In their second group game played against Skeldon Line Path Secondary at Scotsburg ground, Skeldon High batted first and were bowled out for 220 from 38.4 overs. Razack was once again in fine form with the bat with an accomplished 48. He received support from Dellon Hinds (36) and Nicolai Ceres 33.

Laikram Tamessar took 4-36 for Skeldon Line Path who were then bowled out for 68 from 18 overs. Tamesh Ramessar was the lone batsman to get into double figures with 18 as Pestano 4-30 and Stewart 3-14 led the damage with the ball for their team.

In the Tagore Memorial/ Skeldon Line Path matchup, the latter defeated the former by 58 runs to finish as the runners up in the group.

Skeldon Line Path batted first and were bowled out for 151 from 27 overs. Tariq Chaitram led the batting with 41 against the bowling of Naim Yacoob (4-24) and Dulum Persaud (4-22) bowling for Tagore Memorial who were then out for 93 from 16 overs with Ramden Persaud making 19. Tamessar returned to claim 6-28 from seven overs.
