(A Clairmonte Marcus photo)Local telephone giant Guyana Telephone and Telegraph (GT&T) yesterday recommitted itself to Rose Hall Town Youth and Sports Club (RHTYSC) when at a simple ceremony held in the boardroom of the Guyana Cricket Board they handed over a cheque for $400,000 towards the publication of the ninth edition of the club’s Youth Magazine.

Secretary of RHTYSC Hilbert Foster in a statement highlighted the hard work it takes to get corporate Guyana to come on board as a sponsor and expressed the club’s delight at being associated with GT&T for the past 14 years.
“Sponsorship in Guyana is very hard to obtain and even if you are lucky to get a company to assist you, in most cases it is just a one off deal, leaving you out in the wilderness the following year looking for another sponsor. We at RHTYSC are very fortunate to have GT&T on board with us amongst our lists of sponsors,” Foster said.

“They have been our longest serving sponsor since we commenced our relationship with them back in 1994 and to date, they have invested millions of dollars into our development which has resulted in us moving from an ordinary club into Guyana’s best youth club.”

Foster extended special thanks to the staff of GT&T, especially marketing director Wyston Robertson who was present along with Rhonda Johnson and Margaret Washington for their assistance over the years.

He further stated that GT&T through Cellink Plus not only sponsors the magazine, but also the club’s annual awards ceremony, Christmas Charity programme, Ms Region Six Fashion Show, Cellink TV Musical programme and the anti-drugs/pro-education campaign.

Robertson in his remarks expressed his company’s delight at being associated with RHTYSC, pointing out their exemplary administrative skill which has proven effective for them.

The 44-page magazine will be published by F&H Printers and it is slated to be the best edition to date. It is being co-sponsored by Banks DIH and Western Union also at a cost of $125,000 and will be available for distribution free of cost to libraries, clubs, sports organizations and schools in July.
