With two new sponsors onboard, cricket on the East Bank of Demerara (EBD) is set to reach new heights when the W&H Rambarran Marine and R&W Supermarket sponsored Twenty20 competition commences shortly.
This competition which is slated to bowl off after the Carifesta festivities have concluded is expected to contribute towards the revival of cricket on the East Bank of Demerara.
According to a press release, the competition is set to attract some 12 teams who will be vying for the number one spot on the EBD from the first week in September.
The Farm, Providence, Diamond and Eccles grounds will be the venues for the matches, but while the Diamond ground is match- ready the other three venues still have some work to be done.
Meanwhile, teams from the East Bank will be invited to participate in the upcoming Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) sponsored nationwide second division Twenty20 and the Hand-in-Hand sponsored second division 50-over competitions respectively. (By Kizan Brumell)
