De Jonge (129) and Tanner (8-24) lead Vryman’s Erven to victory

The jointly sponsored Ministry of Education/National Sports Commission/Guyana Cricket Board/Guyana Teachers’ Union Secondary School Under-15, 40 overs-a-side cricket competition continued recently in Berbice with a massive win for Vryman’s Erven Secondary School.

Spearheaded by a century from Romario De Jonge, 129, and 47 from Quacy Kendall,  Vryman’s Erven Secondary School scored 287 all out in 39.2 overs against School of the Nations – New Amsterdam (SON/NA).

In reply, SON/NA were bundled out for 63 as pacer Orlando Tanner snatched 8-24 as Vryman’s Erven completed a 224-run win.

Led by 86 from Kevin Ramdeen and 30 from Vivian Fredericks, Berbice Educational Institute (BEI) made a challenging 220 all out in 35.2 overs against Tutorial Academy Secondary School whose Jamal Henry,  took 4-30.

Henry returned with the bat to score 56 and together with 29 from Marlon Shepherd along with 20 each from Devendra Jainabi and Glendon De Cunha, helped TAS to a two-wicket victory.

Off spinner Kevin Pellew took 4-40.

At Edinburgh, TASS beat BEI by two wickets. BEI 220 in 35.2 overs, Kevin Ramdeen 86, Vivian Fredericks 30, Jamal Henry 4-30, Steffon Pilgrim 3-24. TASS 221-8 from 36.1 overs. Jamal Henry 56, Marlon Shepherd 29, Devendra Jainabi 20 and Glendon De Cunha 20 not out.

Kevin Pellew captured 4-40 and Ramdeen 2-32.
At Novar, Bush Lot Secondary School (BLSS) beat Mahaicony Secondary School (MSS) by 104 runs.

BLSS 170 in 28 overs, Lendy Angus 30, Rawle Wade 21, Travis Ross 18 and Dunston Mc Calman 18. O’Donnell Hills took 3-19 and Deswin Butts 2-18.

MSS 66 in 10 overs. Zamin Archibald 31.

Angus took 3-30,  Rennison Mitchell 2-4 and Kurt Griffith 2-31.

At Port Mourant, J.C. Chandisingh Secondary School (JCCSS) beat Corentyne Comprehensive Secondary School (CCSS) by 29 runs.

JCSS 81 in 31.1 overs with Karamchand Mahaballi 18, Boutnarine Persaud 4-12, David Latchaiya 2-2.

Avinash Wajib took 2-10. CCSS 52 in 33 overs with Terrence Moonsammy 25.

Shailendra Shameer captured 4-7, Kandasammy Surujnarine 2-4 and Jonathan Ramkissoon 2-12.

At Mibicuri, Winifred Gaskin Secondary School (WGSS) beat Black Bush Secondary School (BBSS) by five wickets. BBSS 75 in 40 overs. Khemraj Paltu 21. Omati Quinn took 4-11, Cliff Mc Kenzie 3-25and Roger Gooding 2-4.

WGSS in reply scored 76-5 from 21 overs with Neil Pike 31.

Kumar Srikissoon grabbed 3-16.

At D’Edward, Rosignol Secondary School (RSS) defeated Ash Educational Trust (AET) by six wickets. After bowling out AET for a paltry 89 in which Brentnol Woolford made 36, RSS replied with 92-4 from 15.2 overs with Timothy Thomas making an unbeaten 34.
