Rodrigues guides team to front in squash tourney

Newcomer Remy Rodrigues guided Power House to the front of the tournament in the Guyana Squash Association/Smalta Easter junior team tournament which continued on Thursday at the Georgetown Club courts.

Power House became the early front runners when they edged the Kungfu Pandas 3-2 despite Lydia Alphonso’s heroics in coming from two games down to defeat the fast improving Travis Whitehead. Rodrigues who in his first tournament outclassed seasoned campaigner Nicholas Peters 11-6, 5-11, 11-4, and 11-9 led his team to victory.

In the other match of the evening Mitochondria and Gangsters are still tied at 2-2, with the match between Immanuel Barker and Adesina Trim still to decide the tie in a tournament which is due to end  today. The presentation ceremony will be held after the tournament.
