East Bank men get $100,000 bail each for conspiracy

Magistrate Priya Beharry on Tuesday granted $100,000 bail each to two East Bank men accused of conspiring to commit a felony, when they appeared in the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court.

It is alleged that between June 1 and August 17 at Georgetown, Ramesh ‘Chinese’ Ramsingh, 36, of 28 Grove, East Bank Demerara (EBD) and Ricardo Guyadeen, 19, of Section E Herstelling, EBD conspired with person or persons unknown to commit a felony. The duo is accused of receiving one stolen Yamaha outboard engine knowing same to be stolen or unlawfully obtained, the property of Martin Jones. Ramsingh and Guyadeen pleaded not guilty to the charge when it was read to them.
Jones did not attend court.

Attorney-at-law Mohamed Zafar who represented the defendants asked for bail to be granted in a reasonable sum on the grounds that his clients pose no flight risk. He also submitted that they have fixed addresses and have been cooperating with the police.

The men were subsequently ordered to appear in the Providence Magistrate’s Court on September 4.
