Situation on Kumaka waterfront deteriorating

Dear Editor,
Everyone in authority in Region One should know that the waterfront at Kumaka in the Mabaruma district is sinking and is in a deplorable state of disrepair, yet some people are still putting up illegal structures. And some people continue to occupy the KMC tarmac, blocking the place where vehicles are supposed to park and making parking almost non-existent, especially one family which occupies a large portion of the tarmac. They also blocked the entrance of the government’s boat house. It seems as if the Neighbourhood Democratic Council (NDC) is behaving as a toothless poodle and not stopping people from putting up illegal buildings and occupying the KMC tarmac. This situation is not getting better, but is out of control on the tarmac because, when the North West ferry is there, there is hardly any parking space for vehicles. Since the NDC cannot stop these people from putting up illegal structures, the RDC should look into this grave concern or Minister Robeson Benn should drop his hammer because this is a definite concern for the authorities to take quick action.
Yours faithfully,
Noel Seecharan
